Order, Payment, Shipping & Refund Policies

These policies apply to all cabinetry, joinery and flatpack orders placed with TL Joinery & Decor (Melbourne, Australia).

Please read this page carefully before approving any quotation, drawings or production. By paying the deposit or signing the contract, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these terms.

Important: This information is a general guide only and does not replace your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

1. Ordering, Design & Approval

All projects start with an agreed quotation and set of drawings or specifications. It is the client’s responsibility to check all dimensions, finishes and hardware before approving.

  • Measurements can be provided by the client or taken by TL Joinery & Decor as an additional service.
  • Any changes requested before production may affect price and lead time.
  • Orders only move to production after written approval (email or signed document) and cleared deposit payment.

Please contact us immediately if you notice any error in your quote or drawings.

2. Payment Terms

Our standard payment schedule for custom joinery and flatpack orders is:

  • 50% deposit – payable on acceptance of quotation and design approval.
  • 40% progress payment – payable when production is completed and before delivery or installation.
  • 10% final balance – payable after delivery and/or installation has been completed.

All invoices are due on the dates stated on the invoice. Production, delivery and installation may be delayed if payments are not received on time.

Payment methods accepted will be listed on your invoice and may include bank transfer, card payment or other agreed methods.

3. Cancellations & Refunds

Because each project is custom-made, materials are ordered specifically for your job. For this reason, refunds are limited as follows:

  • Before design and drafting: If you cancel before we start detailed drawings, the deposit may be refunded minus any consultation or administration fees already incurred.
  • After drawings are completed but before materials are ordered: If you cancel at this stage, up to 50% of the deposit may be retained to cover design, drafting and project preparation costs.
  • After materials have been ordered or cut: Once materials are purchased or production has begun, the deposit becomes non-refundable.
  • After production has started: Orders cannot be refunded, as cabinets are custom-manufactured to your specifications and cannot be resold.

Any approved refund will be processed back to the original payment method within a reasonable time frame.

4. Warranty – Cabinetry & Hardware

All cabinetry supplied by TL Joinery & Decor is covered by warranty in line with Australian regulations and the specific manufacturer warranty for each material and hardware component.

  • Cabinetry & joinery: Covered by the standard warranty period applicable under Australian law and the material supplier’s terms.
  • Hardware & accessories: Hardware such as hinges, runners and mechanisms (e.g. Hafele, Blum or other brands) are covered according to the manufacturer’s own warranty conditions. Different brands may have different warranty periods.
  • Warranty covers manufacturing defects only and does not cover misuse, neglect, improper cleaning, water damage, movement in the building or unauthorised modifications.

If you believe there is a warranty issue, please contact us in writing with photos and a description of the problem so we can assess and respond.

5. Shipping, Installation & Vietnam Orders

We offer both locally produced cabinetry in Australia and products manufactured in Vietnam and shipped to Australia.

  • Australian-made cabinetry: Delivery and installation dates will be scheduled once production and the 40% progress payment are completed.
  • Vietnam manufacturing: For orders produced in Vietnam, TL Joinery & Decor can arrange door-to-door shipping to Australia. Installation support is available within the Melbourne area only and is quoted separately in your contract based on location and access.
  • Estimated shipping time: Sea freight from Vietnam to Australia typically takes around 30 days, but this is an estimate only and may vary depending on shipping schedules, customs clearance and external factors.
  • Force majeure: We are not liable for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to port congestion, customs delays, strikes, natural disasters or changes in regulations.

6. Insurance & Risk

Clients may choose to purchase additional transport insurance for shipments, especially for international sea freight.

  • If transport insurance is purchased, any compensation for loss or damage in transit will be handled according to the insurance policy and the insurer’s terms and conditions.
  • If transport insurance is not taken, liability for loss or damage during transit is limited to the extent permitted by law and the terms of our contract.
  • Once goods are delivered and signed for at the site, risk passes to the client, even if installation is scheduled for a later time.

7. Order Tracking & Communication

We will keep you updated at key stages of your project, including design approval, production start, production completion and scheduled delivery/installation dates.

  • For local projects, updates are usually provided via email or phone as your job progresses.
  • For Vietnam manufacturing and sea freight, we can provide estimated shipping and arrival windows and will notify you of any major changes once we are informed by our logistics partners.
  • If you need an update on your order, please contact us with your invoice or job number so we can assist quickly.
